Candice Milner Debuts 'Helping Hands' A Song For CanTeen!!

When her beloved grandmother died, 15-year-old Candice Milner decided she wanted to find a way to help support other people battling cancer. "I wrote the song Helping Hands spontaneously'. I want to get the song out there to fundraise for CanTeen and the Cancer Society and raise awareness.''

If her song achieves one thing, she hopes it brings people together. ''I didn't want to just write it and not have any purpose come out of it.''

Candice emailed producer Kevin Allison at Angels Gate Recording Studio and asked if he could help her make her song. He offered to record her song for free. ''This all wouldn't have happened otherwise,'' she says,

CanTeen, which supports young people aged between 13 and 24 living with cancer, are impressed with Candice's song. ''It's a generous gesture,'' says CanTeen youth worker Jason Flewellen.

''CanTeen is a peer support organization so it's great to see someone her age supporting people her age with cancer.'' Candice is donating the proceeds from the sale of her song to CanTeen.

Special thanks to producer Kevin Allison, guitarist Tyler Brown, video by Rush Joplin, Vicki Anderson of The Press and CanTeen for their support with the project.

International stars help New Zealand kids!!

The good folks at Play It Strange in New Zealand are getting some help from some very talented Social Angels. They are auctioning off some autographed ukuleles!! Please help the cause if you can!!

Social Angels is helping Play It Strange Trust raise money to facilitate a programme of lyric writing workshops in low decile primary schools, starting from the central North Island to Cape Reinga. The programme will help young New Zealanders develop skills in song writing, helping them feel connected and relevant.

Several international stars loved hearing what Social Angels is doing and wanted to help in their own way – so Social Angels is overjoyed to have collected ukuleles signed by Green Day, Flight of the Conchords, Rod Stewart, Barry Gibb, Ozzy Osbourne and others, plus a signed, limited edition fine art print by Leonard Cohen.

The unique items are up for auction on Trade Me until Monday 19 November and every cent raised goes straight to this cause – Social Angels keeps none of the proceeds, as part of their '100% Promise'.

You can help support this wonderful cause in three different ways:

1. Let your friends and family know (especially any fans of the stars!) by forwarding this message.

2. Take part in the auctions yourself – visit the auctions now. By helping raise as much money as possible for the workshops, an item touched, played and signed by a favourite star could be yours!

3. Visit the Social Angels cause page to donate directly to Play It Strange Trust.

Thank you!

It was great to have Jimmy Leigh from "Shayna King Band" bring a few guys from the Auckland based band "Chatchy" by Angels Gate Recording Studio for a look around and play a few sweet licks before there show last night at The Foundry in Christchurch. It was a great show by them and also "The Laon" who is currently recording at Angels Gate. Both bands rocked the house!!

Here's Jason Herbert playing a replica 1955 Strat through a 1955 Supro Lightning Bolt and a 1955 Gibsnette set up by a 1955 Kevin Allison. How could you go wrong!! :-)

Thanks for stopping by guys!
